We are seeking an experienced Electrical Production Technician to join our team and contribute to the production of high-quality, safe battery systems for marine applications.
Position Overview
The Electrical Production Technician will be responsible for the assembly, testing and support of electrical and battery system components within a production environment. The role involves hands-on manufacturing tasks, quality checks, fault-finding, and collaboration with engineering, test and quality teams to ensure products meet design and safety requirements for marine use.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly: Build electrical subassemblies, modules and complete battery units following engineering drawings, work instructions and safety procedures.
Wiring and Harnessing: Prepare and terminate cables, assemble wiring looms, and perform connectorisation to specified standards.
Testing: Execute electrical and functional tests using test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, battery test rigs) and record results in test documentation.
Component Inspection: Carry out visual and electrical inspections, soldering and mechanical checks to ensure components and assemblies meet quality criteria.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and rectify manufacturing faults, liaise with engineering to resolve recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
Process Compliance: Follow and contribute to the development of assembly procedures, test protocols and quality control processes to meet industry and company standards.
Documentation: Maintain accurate build records, test reports and non-conformance documentation in accordance with quality systems.
Health & Safety: Work safely within the production environment, adhere to electrical safety rules, risk assessments and safe working practices.
Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, yield and product reliability.
Qualifications
Education: GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths plus relevant vocational qualifications (e.g. Level 3 NVQ) or equivalent experience in electrical assembly.
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical assembly, manufacturing or related roles; experience with battery systems, power electronics or wiring harness assembly is desirable.
Technical Skills: Competent with hand tools, soldering, crimping tools, cable management and basic test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope); familiarity with IPC soldering standards advantageous.
Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to follow drawings, work instructions and inspection criteria with high attention to detail.
Problem Solving: Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work with engineering to implement corrective measures.
Teamwork: Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across production, test and engineering teams.
Health & Safety Awareness: Understanding of electrical safety, PPE and safe handling of batteries and high-voltage components.
IT Skills: Basic computer literacy for recording test data and using production documentation systems.
