Industrial Electrical Facilities - Project Manager/ Estimator

Newtron has a west coast office located in Martinez, CA providing electrical and instrumentation specialty to energy sector customers located in Contra Costa County. Our customers include restricted access facilities such as refineries, power generation facilities, chemical plants, etc. We are looking to add an additional Project Manager to join our team.

Position Overview

An Electrical Contracting sales & Pre-construction Manager position drives revenue by selling electrical contracting services to clients. Duties include prospecting for new business, preparing technical proposals and estimates, and managing relationships with contractors, architects, and property owners to close profitable deals. Additionally, assists in managing the initial planning phase of an electrical construction project after award but before ground breaks. Responsibilities bridge the gap between the owner's design concepts proposal and the physical build, focusing and assisting on budget estimation, scheduling, feasibility analysis, value engineering, and subcontractor procurement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Prospect for newn clients via cold calling, networking, trade shows, and referrals.
  • Pipeline Management: Track active leads, negotiate terms, and guide clients through the closing process.
  • Relationship Management: Act as the liaison between the client, internal project managers, and subcontractors to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Project Scoping & Estimation: Conduct on-site evaluations, read blueprints, and collaborate with estimating/preconstruction departments.
  • Budgeting & Estimating: Assist Develop preliminary and conceptual cost estimates, manage project options, and prepare Lump Sum or T&M Budet proposals.
  • Design & Constructability Reviews: Review architectural and engineering plans to identify scope gaps, resolve discrepancies, and propose cost-saving alternatives (Value Engineering).
  • Procurement & Bidding: Draft scopes of work, solicit and analyze partner bids, and manage contract negotiations to ensure optimal trade partner selection.
  • Planning & Logistics: Draft preliminary pre-construction schedules and plan site logistics, ensuring a smooth operational handoff to the construction team.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Lead meetings and maintain continuous communication with clients, designers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) regarding permitting and zoning.
  • Proposal Delivery: Prepare and present detailed bids, proposals, and contracts.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction means and methods, building materials, and local zoning/building codes.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience utilizing scheduling (e.g., MS Project), estimating, and project management tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam).
  • Soft Skills: Strong sales, negotiation, cross-functional leadership, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour
