A construction contractor in Dubai is seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor – Electrical to support cost management and quantity surveying activities for MEP and electrical works on building and industrial projects. The role involves assisting with BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, cost estimation, interim payments, and variation management while coordinating with engineers, subcontractors, and procurement teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quantity take-offs from electrical drawings including SLDs, layouts, and schematics
- Assist in preparing BOQs for electrical systems such as LV panels, cable trays, lighting, power, earthing, and fire alarm systems
- Support cost estimation, tender preparation, and rate analysis
- Measure completed works and assist with interim payment applications
- Evaluate subcontractor invoices and support variation pricing and change orders
- Assist with cost tracking, monthly reports, and final account documentation
- Maintain project records including site instructions, variations, and change logs
- Coordinate with project engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 2+ years of total experience, with 1–2 years UAE experience in construction or MEP projects
- Experience working with a main contractor or MEP contractor preferred
- Strong understanding of electrical systems (LV switchgear, cables, lighting, DBs, earthing)
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and single line diagrams (SLDs)
- Basic knowledge of BOQ preparation, measurement methods, and FIDIC contracts
