Electrical Retrofit Engineer – Job Description

Location: Dubai, UAE

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Retrofit Engineer with comprehensive expertise in electrical repair, upgrade, and modernization works across residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of electrical systems, troubleshooting methodologies, retrofit execution, and full compliance with UAE regulations, DEWA bylaws, and local authority standards.
A strong foundational understanding of electrical system design is essential.

Knowledge of Low Current System shall be an added advantage

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management & Execution

• Plan, manage, and execute electrical repair, retrofit, and upgrade projects from start to completion.
• Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, internal teams, and clients to ensure seamless project delivery.

2. Technical Assessment & Diagnostic Expertise

• Conduct detailed site inspections to assess existing electrical systems and identify faults, safety risks, or inefficiencies.
• Perform diagnostic testing, load analysis, and root-cause evaluation for electrical failures.
• Propose technically sound, cost-effective retrofit solutions and repair strategies that comply with DEWA and UAE regulations.
• Prepare BOQs, cost estimates, material lists, and method statements for proposed works.

3. Retrofit & Upgrade Works

• Lead execution of electrical retrofit projects, including:
• Distribution board upgrades and replacements
• Cable routing and capacity enhancement
• Power quality improvements
• Lighting retrofits (LED / energy-efficient solutions)
• Replacement of outdated electrical components and panels
• Industrial system upgrades (control panels, motors, MCCs, VFDs, etc.)
• Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning activities ensuring proper workmanship and safety compliance.

4. Compliance, Safety & Regulatory Coordination

• Ensure all work strictly adheres to:
• DEWA Regulations & Bylaws
• UAE Fire & Life Safety Codes
• Dubai Municipality Standards
• All relevant local authority requirements
• Prepare documentation and support approval processes with authorities when required.
• Enforce safety protocols for all electrical works on-site.

5. Team & Site Supervision

• Manage electricians and subcontractors on site, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to schedules.
• Perform QA/QC checks and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
• Train site teams on safe electrical practices, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and equipment handling.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in electrical repair, retrofit, and upgrade projects across residential, commercial, and/or industrial sectors.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the UAE is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of DEWA regulations, UAE electrical codes, and authority approval processes.
• Solid understanding of electrical design fundamentals, load calculations, schematics, and system layouts.
• Proven track record of diagnosing electrical faults and engineering practical solutions.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Valid UAE Driving License is mandatory.
• Ability to join immediately is an advantage.

SALARY + commission

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per month
