POSITION OVERVIEW:
PJS Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to lead field operations on a large-scale data center project in Virginia. This position is responsible for all on-site electrical construction activities, including field supervision, project-specific prefabrication oversight, coordination with the Construction Manager and other subcontractors, and close collaboration with PJS Project Management.
This role is an opportunity to lead a high-profile mission-critical data center project and requires a highly organized leader with a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field Leadership & Project Execution
· Provide day-to-day on-site leadership of all electrical construction activities.
· Supervise and coordinate foremen, journeymen, and subcontracted labor.
· Ensure work is performed in accordance with:
o Electrical drawings and specifications
o NEC and all applicable codes
· Plan and execute work to meet project schedule milestones.
· Conduct daily planning meetings and weekly look-ahead scheduling.
· Monitor manpower loading to ensure optimal productivity and crew efficiency.
· Coordinate inspections with local authorities, client representatives, and third-party inspectors.
Project-Specific Prefabrication Oversight
· Lead and oversee all project-specific prefabrication activities, including:
o Electrical room assemblies
o Conduit racks
o Modular distribution systems
· Coordinate prefabrication with:
o PJS engineering
o Procurement
o Field installation crews
· Ensure prefabricated assemblies meet quality, schedule, and installation requirements.
· Identify opportunities for additional prefabrication to improve safety, efficiency, and schedule certainty.
Coordination & Communication
· Serve as the primary field liaison between:
o Construction Manager
o Other subcontractors
o PJS Project Management team
· Attend and actively participate in:
o OAC meetings
o Trade coordination meetings
o Safety meetings
· Proactively resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and sequencing challenges.
· Maintain clear and consistent communication with project stakeholders.
Safety Leadership
· Lead by example and enforce PJS Electric’s Safety Program at all times.
· Ensure full compliance with:
o OSHA regulations
o Site-specific safety requirements
o Client safety standards
· Conduct:
o Daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
o Daily safety briefings / toolbox talks
· Immediately correct unsafe conditions or behaviors.
· Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
· Promote a culture of zero incidents and zero injuries.
Quality Control
· Ensure all work meets PJS quality standards and client expectations.
· Perform regular quality inspections of:
o Rough-in
o Terminations
o Equipment installations
· Verify as-built conditions for accuracy.
· Lead punch list completion and closeout efforts.
Schedule & Cost Awareness
· Track production rates and manpower performance.
· Communicate schedule risks and recovery plans to Project Management.
· Assist with:
o Weekly progress reporting
o Productivity tracking
o Change order documentation support
· Minimize rework through proactive planning and quality control.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
· Minimum 8–12 years of experience in electrical construction.
· Minimum 5+ years of experience as an Electrical Superintendent or General Foreman.
· Extensive experience with:
o Large-scale commercial or industrial projects
o Data centers, mission-critical facilities, or infrastructure projects (strongly preferred)
· Strong knowledge of:
o NEC
o Electrical systems for data centers
o Power distribution, grounding, raceways, and equipment installations
· Proven ability to lead large crews and multiple foremen.
· Strong communication and coordination skills.
· High level of safety leadership and accountability.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Prior experience working on data center construction projects.
· Experience with project-specific electrical prefabrication.
· OSHA 30 Certification (Required or must be obtained).
· Proficiency with:
o Bluebeam
o Procore or similar construction management platforms
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to:
o Walk active construction sites
o Climb ladders and scaffolding
o Lift up to 50 lbs
o Work in varying weather conditions
· Ability to work extended hours as required by project schedule.
