ELECTRICAL SWITCHGEAR ENGINEER

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Switchgear Engineer to design, develop, test, and support low voltage switchgear systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in power distribution systems, protection schemes, and electrical standards compliance.

This role requires collaboration with project managers, manufacturing teams, and clients to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer low voltage switchgear systems
• Prepare electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams
• Perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
• Select and specify circuit breakers, relays, busbars, CTs/PTs, and protective devices
• Ensure compliance with NEC, ANSI, IEEE, UL, and IEC standards
• Coordinate with manufacturing and assembly teams during panel fabrication
• Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and site commissioning support
• Provide technical support to sales and field service teams
• Review project specifications and ensure alignment with customer requirements
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during installation and startup

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of experience in switchgear design or power distribution systems
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software
• Strong understanding of low voltage systems
• Knowledge of protection relays and coordination principles
• Familiarity with industry standards (NEC, IEEE, UL, ANSI)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with arc flash analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools)
• Experience with PLC integration and control systems
• Project management experience
• Experience with manufacturers such as Siemens, Schneider Electric, Eaton, or ABB
