Job Overview

RAT Solutions is an industrial surface preparation and coatings contractor working on tanks, structural steelwork, and process plant for clients in the petrochemical, energy, and heavy industrial sectors. We are looking for a recently qualified electrician — ideally fresh out of an apprenticeship — who wants to build a long-term career combining electrical work with industrial rope access. Full IRATA training will be provided and funded. This is a hands-on site-based role, not a design office position. If you want to be at height, on real industrial sites, and learn a trade that very few electricians hold, this is the job.

What You'll Be Doing

• Carrying out electrical installation, fault-finding, testing, and minor remedial work on industrial sites, including tank farms, process units, and structural assets.
• Working alongside our blasting, coatings, and rope access teams to support electrical isolations, temporary supplies, lighting, and small-power requirements during projects.
• Learning rope access techniques under qualified IRATA Level 3 supervisors, progressing through Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 over time, fully funded by the company.
• Conducting inspection and testing in line with BS 7671 (18th Edition) and producing the relevant certification.
• Supporting confined space and working-at-height operations once trained and certified.
• Working to client safety procedures including permit-to-work, LOTO, and atmospheric monitoring requirements.
• Maintaining tools, test equipment, and PPE in good order.

What We're Looking For

• City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent NVQ Level 3) — recently completed apprenticeship preferred.
• 18th Edition (BS 7671) — current.
• AM2 or AM2S passed (or close to completion).
• Full UK driving licence.
• A genuine interest in working at height and on industrial sites — not site-shy, not afraid of heights, not afraid of hard graft.
• Good attitude, willingness to learn, reliable timekeeping, able to take direction on site.
• Right to work in the UK.

Desirable (Not Essential)

• 2391 Inspection and Testing.
• CSCS / ECS card.
• Confined space awareness.
• Any prior experience on industrial, petrochemical, or construction sites.
• Medical fitness for rope access work (we will arrange the IRATA medical).
