Electrical Installation Tutor

Birmingham Electrical Training is an electrical training provider based in Birmingham. We currently train over 600 electrical apprentices working with 250 local and national electrical contractors. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an additional Electrical Tutor/Lecturer to our team. Graded GOOD by Ofsted at our last inspection, we pride ourselves on delivering high quality industry relevant training to the next generation of electricians. Our tutors play an integral and inspirational role in the development of our apprentices. The role encompasses teaching both apprentices and adult learners on upskilling courses. You will be based at our Birmingham Centres teaching both theoretical and practical lessons to apprentices aged 16+. You will need to have a good knowledge of electrical principles but also able to enrich your lessons through your own industry and career experiences. If you are an experienced Tutor or Lecturer then we would love to hear from you, but don’t worry if you are an experienced electrician looking for a career change into education. We offer high levels of support and training opportunities, delivered both internally and externally. You will also be able to update your electrical equalisations with our range of electrical short courses. Job Descriptions

• Delivering theoretical and practical sessions to Apprentices undertaking City & Guilds 5357 Electrical Apprenticeship
• Assessing and Teaching Practical Sessions for Apprentices and Adult Learners
• Planning, marking, and assessing teaching sessions
• Supporting Learners with extra support if needed
• Working with employers and supporting successful training of their apprentices
• Undertaking Assessments & Skills Scans at our Birmingham Training Centre
• Assessing Practical WORK

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience as an Electrical Tutor
• Qualified to at least AET (PTLLS) Level 3
• C&G Electrical Installation Level 2 and Level 3 or equivalent or completed an Electrical Apprenticeship
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
• A passion for helping students achieve
• Good IT skills
• A positive attitude
• Excellent communication skills

OR

• Qualified electrician looking for a change of direction (training will be provided)
• Served a recognised apprenticeship C&G Electrical Installation Level 2 and Level 3 or equivalent or completed an Electrical Apprenticeship
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience “on the tools”
• Relevant industry qualifications e.g. 18th Edition, 2391, PAT Testing are desired

The position involves working with Apprentices delivering C&G 5357 Level 3 Diploma and delivering City & Guilds commercial training courses i.e. 18th Edition, PAT Testing, Inspection and Testing, EV Charging

Working hours are 8.00am – 4.30 Mon-Thurs, 8.00am – 4.00 on Friday with ½ lunch
