The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in residential, commercial, industrial, and construction projects. The role ensures all electrical works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable electrical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install electrical wiring, conduits, cable trays, trunking, containment systems, and related accessories.
- Install and connect lighting fixtures, switches, sockets, distribution boards, control panels, and electrical equipment.
- Pull, terminate, and test electrical cables and wiring systems.
- Install earthing and bonding systems according to project requirements.
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with approved drawings and specifications.
Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose electrical faults and carry out corrective repairs.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Replace defective wiring, switches, breakers, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
- Troubleshoot power distribution and control system issues.
Testing & Inspection
- Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing of electrical systems.
- Assist in testing and commissioning activities.
- Identify defects and report issues to supervisors for corrective action.
- Ensure installations meet quality and safety standards.
Safety Compliance
- Follow electrical safety procedures, company HSE policies, and site regulations.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools.
- Ensure safe isolation of electrical circuits before performing maintenance or repairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Documentation & Coordination
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure smooth execution of work.
- Report daily work progress and material requirements to supervisors.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of electrical materials and tools.
Qualifications
- ITI, Diploma, Trade Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation.
- Relevant electrical certification is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in electrical installation and maintenance works.
- Experience in construction, MEP, facilities management, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- UAE/GCC experience preferred.
