Key responsibilities
- Installation: Install wiring, conduit, lighting fixtures, control systems, and other electrical equipment in new construction projects.
- Blueprint interpretation: Read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to plan and execute installations accurately.
- System maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and safely.
- Troubleshooting and repair: Diagnose and fix electrical malfunctions by repairing or replacing components as needed.
- Tool and equipment operation: Safely use a variety of hand and power tools, such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, drills, and diagnostic tools like ammeters and voltmeters.
- Safety compliance: Ensure all work adheres to electrical codes, safety standards, and local regulations.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with general contractors, architects, engineers, and other trades to integrate electrical systems into the overall building design.
Required skills and qualifications
- Proven knowledge of electrical theory, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Good physical stamina and ability to work in various conditions, including heights and cramped spaces.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Relevant training and certifications, such as a diploma or apprenticeship completion.
