Electrician with Landscape Experience

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Landscape Electrician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot outdoor electrical systems for landscape projects. The ideal candidate should have experience in landscape lighting, irrigation control systems, outdoor power distribution, and low-voltage installations. The role requires working closely with landscape supervisors, irrigation teams, and project managers to ensure safe and high-quality installations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in electrical installation is preferred.
  • Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with landscape and outdoor electrical systems such as garden lighting, pathway lighting, bollards, fountain and pond equipment, irrigation controls, and outdoor power distribution.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, site plans, lighting layouts, and landscape construction drawings.
  • Knowledge of low-voltage and line-voltage outdoor lighting systems.
  • Familiarity with weatherproof enclosures, grounding/bonding, underground conduit installation, and outdoor-rated cabling.
  • Understanding of electrical safety codes, outdoor installation standards, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Proficiency with testing instruments such as multimeters, continuity testers, and insulation testers.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors, dig trenches, pull cable, lift equipment, and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license is often preferred for site travel and service work.

Responsibilities:

  • Install outdoor lighting systems including pathway lights, spotlights, floodlights, bollards, deck lights, and accent lighting.
  • Install underground conduits, junction boxes, transformers, and outdoor distribution equipment.
  • Wire and connect landscape lighting circuits, timers, photocells, smart controllers, and irrigation control panels.
  • Assist with electrical requirements for water features, fountains, pumps, and pond systems.
  • Inspect and maintain outdoor electrical systems for reliability and safety.
  • Diagnose faults such as cable damage, water ingress, transformer failures, tripped breakers, and lighting control issues.
  • Repair or replace defective fixtures, drivers, transformers, breakers, wiring, and control devices.
  • Restore service after outages and coordinate emergency repairs when needed.
  • Test circuits, grounding/bonding, insulation resistance, voltage, and load conditions.
  • Commission newly installed landscape lighting and control systems.
  • Verify proper operation of timers, sensors, dimming systems, and automation controls.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, outdoor installation standards, and project specifications.
  • Use weatherproof and corrosion-resistant materials appropriate for outdoor environments.
  • Identify electrical hazards, damaged cabling, exposed conductors, and grounding issues and take corrective action.
  • Follow PPE, lockout/tagout, excavation, and utility-location procedures before trenching.
  • Coordinate with landscape contractors, irrigation technicians, civil teams, and project supervisors.
  • Review site plans and lighting layouts before installation.
  • Maintain records of inspections, test results, maintenance activities, and material usage.
  • Report defects, completed work, and recommendations for upgrades or preventive maintenance.
