Overview

We’re seeking a talented and motivated Electronic Components Buyer to join Electro-Connect, Inc. (ECI) . In this high-impact role, you’ll own sourcing and procurement for critical components, ensuring our builds have the right parts, at the right time, at the best total cost without compromising quality or compliance. You’ll partner closely with Production, Engineering, Sales, Quality, and Receiving to source from top distributors, maintain accurate BOMs and AVL, mitigate supply risk, and drive cost-down initiatives. If you’re detail-obsessed, proactive with suppliers, and energized by solving hard supply challenges in fast-moving manufacturing, this role lets you make a visible difference on delivery, margin, and customer success.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a highly motivated Electronic Components Buyer for sourcing and procurement. You’ll ensure our manufacturing projects have the right parts, at the right time, at the best cost—without costing quality.

You’ll work closely with Production, Sales, and Receiving to:

● Source components (resistors, capacitors, ICs, connectors, etc.)

● Identify the best suppliers and distributors

● Maintain accurate BOMs and approved vendor lists

● Support quoting and cost estimates for new manufacturing projects

● Monitor inventory and manage supply risk

Key Responsibilities

● Research and evaluate suppliers for pricing, quality, and lead time

● Negotiate supplier pricing, terms, and volume discounts

● Maintain and update BOMs, contracts, and supplier performance records

● Work with Engineering on part equivalency, obsolescence issues, and cost reductions

● Forecast demand and plan purchases to avoid stockouts or excess inventory

● Compile material compliance date (RoHS, REACH, Prop 65, Conflict Minerals, etc.)

● Track industry trends, supply shortages, and new component technologies

● Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve supplier or quality issues

Must-Have Qualifications

● Proven experience in electronic component sourcing, procurement, or supply chain

● Strong understanding of electronic components and familiarity with distributors (DigiKey, Mouser, Avnet, etc.)

● Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage many part numbers and BOMs

● Highly motivated and able to manage multiple tasks under deadlines

● Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

● Effective communication with engineers, operations, and management

● Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, or purchasing software

● Four-year degree not required; relevant experience or certifications accepted

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience with global sourcing or import logistics

● Familiarity with BOM management and PLM

● Knowledge of lean manufacturing, cost-down programs, or continuous improvement

● Awareness of quality certifications (ISO, IPC) and compliance (RoHS, REACH)
