We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electronics PCB Design Engineer with a strong background in embedded systems hardware to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design of PCBs for our IoT sensor product lines from schematic capture and component selection through to layout, prototyping, and compliance validation. You will work closely with embedded firmware engineers, mechanical designers, and product managers to deliver robust, production-ready hardware. Responsibilities
- Schematic Design: Develop and review detailed electronic schematics for IoT sensor products using Autodesk Fusion 360, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to design standards.
- PCB Layout: Perform high-quality multi-layer PCB layout with a strong focus on signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC best practices including controlled impedance routing, proper ground plane management, decoupling strategies, and noise isolation techniques.
- RF & Antenna Design: Design and optimize PCB antenna layouts and RF front-end circuitry for wireless protocols including BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa/LoRaWAN, and Zigbee, ensuring reliable radio performance within compact form factors.
- Power Management: Design efficient battery-powered and low-power circuits including DC-DC converters, LDOs, battery charging/protection circuits, and power sequencing for IoT devices requiring extended battery life.
- Component Selection: Select appropriate components (microcontrollers, sensors, passives, connectors) considering performance, availability, cost, and manufacturability; maintain and update the Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Hardware Integration: Collaborate with firmware engineers to ensure seamless hardware–software integration across microcontroller platforms including ESP32, STM32, MSP and Nordic nRF series.
- Prototyping & Bring-Up: Support PCB fabrication, assembly, and hardware bring-up; perform hands-on debugging using tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
- EMI/EMC Compliance: Apply layout techniques and design methodologies to meet FCC and CE regulatory requirements; support pre-compliance and formal compliance testing activities.
- Design Reviews: Participate in and lead design reviews, DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFT (Design for Test) checks to ensure smooth transition to production.
- Documentation: Produce thorough design documentation including schematics, layout guidelines, test reports, and revision histories.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including firmware, mechanical, and product teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in PCB schematic capture and layout design, ideally within IoT or embedded systems products.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360 (Electronics) for schematic and PCB layout work.
- Strong knowledge of EMI/EMC design principles, ground plane strategies, trace routing, shielding, filtering, and noise reduction techniques.
- Demonstrated experience designing PCBs for wireless communication systems (BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa/LoRaWAN, Zigbee).
- Experience with battery-powered product design including low-power optimization, charging circuits, and power management ICs.
- Familiarity with ESP32, STM32, and Nordic nRF series microcontroller hardware ecosystems.
- Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design fundamentals.
- Experience supporting FCC and/or CE certification processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Must be immediately available and based in Dubai.
- Familiarity with IPC PCB design standards.
- Exposure to RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, Zephyr) from a hardware perspective.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles and working directly with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors (PCBA).
- Experience with thermal management and simulation tools.
