Production Manager - Electronic Device Manufacturing
Position Overview
The Production Manager will oversee all aspects of the electromechanical assembly operations for our electronic device manufacturing facility, with a focus end to end production assembly to shipping. This role is responsible for managing production schedules, kitting operations, inventory control, receiving processes, refining build assemblies with microscope level soldering, and piece rate administration to meet production deadlines. This is to be done while maintaining Marshall quality and reliability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Plan, organize, and oversee daily production operations for the production assembly lines
- Manage and prioritization work order release for individual product builds while balancing work loads for all production employees.
- Oversee kitting operations to ensure accurate and timely material staging for each work order
- Monitor production metrics including output, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery
- Coordinate work order flow to optimize resource utilization and minimize changeover times
- Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
Payroll and Piece Rate Management
- Review, approve, and submit biweekly production data for piece rate, and hourly payroll processing
- Ensure accurate tracking of completed work orders by individual operators
- Verify and maintain piece rate calculations and resolve discrepancies before payroll deadlines
- Set piece rate standards and recommend adjustments based on time studies
- Collaborate with Payroll department to ensure timely and accurate payment
- Address employee questions and concerns regarding any payroll issues
- Generate timely productivity reports and analyze piece rate performance trends
Inventory and Materials Management
- Oversee receiving operations including inspection, documentation, and production item stocking
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and locations to support kitting operations
- Implement and perform cycle counting programs and investigate/resolve inventory discrepancies
- Manage incoming product handling processes from receiving through production consumption
- Coordinate with purchasing on material requirements and shortage resolution
- Optimize inventory storage layouts and implement FIFO/FEFO controls
Kitting and Work Order Management
- Responsible for kitting and managing accurate build lists and component staging
- Develop and maintain kitting procedures for various product configurations
- Implement verification processes and documentation to prevent kit errors and missing components
- Track kit completion status and coordinate with production scheduling
- Manage work order documentation and traveler packet preparation
- Oversee material returns and kit modification processes
Team Leadership
- Learn to be proficient in all production build assembly processes.
- Supervise and develop production supervisors, kitting personnel, warehouse staff, and assembly teams
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to improve team effectiveness
- Foster a culture of Marshall quality and teamwork throughout all operations
- Coordinate staffing levels for production to meet demand
- Monitor individual operator productivity and provide support to improve piece rate earnings
- Ensure balanced work order distribution among production staff to meet quality and timeline requirements
- Develop training and cross training for production to maintain a stable workflow environment
Quality and Compliance
- Ensure all products meet Marshall quality standards and specifications
- Implement receiving inspection procedures for incoming materials
- Lead root cause analysis for kit errors, inventory discrepancies, and production defects
- Ensure proper material traceability throughout the production process
- Balance quality requirements with piece rate productivity goals
Process Improvement
- Analyze kitting and production data to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities
- Lead process optimization projects across receiving, inventory, kitting, and assembly operations
- Conduct time studies to establish and update piece rate standards
- Implement new equipment, tools, and technologies to enhance operational capabilities
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all build processes
- Optimize work order routing and production flow
Reporting and Communication
- Work closely with Production Engineering on new product introductions and BOM accuracy and solutions for production fallout
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Inventory Management team regarding material planning, purchasing, and vendor management
- Work with the Shipping Department on order fulfillment and delivery commitments
- Communicate production status, inventory levels, and operational issues to senior management in scheduled meetings being prepared to detail production status
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
