At Hoverfly Technologies, you won't just answer support tickets. You'll get your hands on real tethered drone hardware, diagnose what went wrong, and get mission-critical systems back in the field. As our Technical Support Specialist, you're the frontline expert bridging our customers with the engineering and production teams building these systems.
This is NOT an IT help desk, telecom/network operations, or call-center role. We need a hands-on technical technician who can personally troubleshoot electronics and guide systems through the RMA process.
Why You Want This Job
- Work hands-on with advanced tethered sUAS platforms, disassembling, testing, and troubleshooting the same systems supporting Army tactical networks and robotic combat vehicle programs
- Own the full RMA lifecycle from intake to return, not just logging tickets and escalating
- Your findings feed directly back into product development; recurring issues you identify shape the next generation of Hoverfly systems
- Small team, fast cycles, and direct access to the engineers who designed the hardware you're supporting
- Onsite in Wright City, MO with a collaborative team building technology at the leading edge of drone endurance
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and resolve customer hardware, software, and system performance issues across Hoverfly's tethered drone platforms
- Own RMA processing end-to-end: receive, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and coordinate return of customer systems
- Document failure trends and feed root cause findings to engineering and production to drive reliability improvements
- Maintain configuration control and validate software/firmware versions across fielded systems
- Build and maintain technical support documentation and knowledge base content
Why You'll Be Successful
- Hands-on experience with drones, RC systems, robotics, or similar electromechanical hardware; you've taken things apart and figured out why they stopped working. Even better, you got them working again!
- Comfort troubleshooting across both hardware and software environments
- Familiarity with drone flight control systems or mission planning software
- Part 107 certification or willingness to obtain it
- Ability to lift 35-75 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions; this is a physical, hands-on role
Position is onsite in Wright City, MO, with an amazing team and a laid-back environment.
