As we continue building a top-tier academic model, we are seeking a high-performing Elementary Academic Interventionist who is passionate about helping students grow, closing learning gaps, supporting teachers, and strengthening schoolwide outcomes.

Position Overview

The Elementary Academic Interventionist serves students in Grades 1–5 by providing targeted support in core academic areas, especially reading and mathematics.

This is not a tutoring role. It is a strategic student growth role focused on accelerating achievement, improving confidence, and helping students reach or exceed grade-level expectations.

The successful candidate will work directly with students, teachers, and leadership to:

  • Identify learning gaps quickly
  • Deliver targeted intervention support
  • Support advanced / extension learners
  • Improve progress and attainment
  • Strengthen classroom instruction through collaboration
  • Build systems that contribute to schoolwide excellence

Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Intervention & Achievement

  • Analyze assessments, student work, observations, and classroom data to identify academic strengths and learning gaps
  • Provide targeted small-group and individual instruction in:
  • Reading foundations
  • Fluency
  • Reading comprehension
  • Writing support
  • Math fluency
  • Number sense
  • Problem solving
  • Accelerate students toward grade-level proficiency and beyond
  • Monitor progress regularly and adjust instruction based on results

Push-In Classroom Support

  • Push into classrooms during core reading and mathematics instructional blocks
  • Support teachers through:
  • Guided groups
  • Reteaching
  • Differentiation
  • Student engagement strategies
  • Immediate intervention support
  • Help maximize learning during Tier 1 classroom instruction

Pull-Out Targeted Intervention

  • Provide scheduled short-cycle intervention sessions for students requiring additional support
  • Use evidence-based strategies and measurable goals
  • Build student independence and confidence

Advanced Learner / Extension Support

  • Identify students ready for increased challenge
  • Design enrichment opportunities such as:
  • Advanced reading groups
  • Math challenge groups
  • Writing extension tasks
  • Independent inquiry projects
  • Support the development of future honors / advanced pathways

Teacher Collaboration & Capacity Building

  • Collaborate with teachers to review student needs and next instructional steps
  • Model effective intervention strategies
  • Share resources and instructional supports
  • Help strengthen consistency and teacher confidence across classrooms

Data, Reporting & Systems

  • Maintain intervention records and student progress data
  • Monitor growth every 4–6 weeks
  • Recommend students for entry, continuation, or exit from intervention cycles
  • Prepare progress summaries for school leadership
  • Support a data-informed culture of improvement

Parent Partnership

  • Communicate professionally with families regarding student support plans and progress
  • Share practical strategies families can use at home
  • Build confidence in the school’s academic support systems

  • Preserve student dignity while maintaining high expectations

Sample Daily Role Structure

7:30 – 10:30 AM

Push-in support during reading and mathematics blocks

10:30 – 12:00 PM

Small-group / pull-out intervention sessions

1:00 – 2:00 PM

Progress monitoring, planning, and data review

2:00 – 3:00 PM

Teacher collaboration, parent communication, strategy planning

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Experience working with elementary-age students
  • Strong instructional knowledge in reading and/or mathematics
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Preferred

  • Valid teaching certification
  • Experience as an interventionist, reading specialist, instructional support teacher, or classroom teacher
  • Experience using student assessment data to guide instruction
  • Strong phonics / literacy intervention background
  • Strong elementary mathematics support background
  • Experience in private, charter, or high-performing school settings
  • Experience differentiating for diverse learners

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $26,000 – $35,000
