Elementary After School Program Teacher

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Afterschool Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for working with children. This role involves actively supervising children indoors and outdoors during afterschool hours.

Duties

• Prepare classroom activities and curriculum materials according to Lead Teacher.
• Supervise classroom as directed by Lead Teacher.
• Repair classroom materials or apparatus as necessary or directed.
• Assist with the maintenance of classroom inventory.
• Share the responsibility for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times.
• Assist in the supervision of playground and lunchtime.

Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

• Ability to relate to children in a positive, sensitive and constructive manner.
• Willingness to learn and practice the principles of Montessori philosophy in the elementary program
• Willingness to take direction, and exercise initiative where appropriate.
• Ability to manage groups of children, eliciting their cooperation, without undue authority.
• Ability to work as an effective and supportive member of a team.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in dealing with unusual or emergency situations.
• Ability to relate to parents in a supportive and professional manner.
• Emotional maturity and an abundance of patience and love.
