Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Elementary Aged Summer Camp Teacher to lead engaging activities and foster a positive, nurturing environment for children during the summer months. This is a seasonal position and will begin May 27th and end August 12th. In this role, you will create a fun and safe space where children can learn, play, and grow through a variety of educational and recreational activities.
Duties
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities that promote childhood development, creativity, and social skills.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive behavior management techniques to ensure a respectful and inclusive environment.
- Supervise children during outdoor play, arts and crafts, sports, theater activities, and rest periods to ensure safety at all times.
- Provide first aid when necessary, maintaining calmness and professionalism in emergency situations.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to coordinate camp schedules, special events, and themed activities that enhance the summer program.
- Support children with special needs or learning challenges by adapting activities and providing individualized attention as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress, behavior, and any concerns that arise during camp hours.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, preschool, tutoring, or summer camps is highly preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain order while encouraging fun and learning.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in special education or child behavior management are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
- Ability to engage children through sports coaching, theater arts, babysitting experience or other creative outlets.
