Elementary and Middle School Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary and Middle School Teacher to join our educational team in Mid-November. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students. This role involves thinking outside the box, developing engaging lesson plans with a multisensory approach, creating and implementing curriculum, and fostering a love for learning among students. The teacher will also be responsible for assessing student progress and adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate must have experience working with children with unique abilities like ASD and ADHD. ESE, Gifted and ESOL endorsement, and bilingual in Spanish is a plus. Must be familiar with conscious discipline and affirming neurodivergent approaches.

Duties

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages social skill with student participation and engagement.
  • Utilize various teaching methods, including literacy education, math instruction, and physical education.
  • Monitor portfolios and conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and understanding.
  • Provide individualized support to students, including those with special needs or autism.
  • Mentor students in their academic growth and personal development.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively to maintain an orderly learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and share best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Incorporate technology into lessons to enhance learning experiences.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.

Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience working with multiage group children in an educational setting.
  • Background in early childhood education, childhood development, or Montessori, Regio and Emilia and Waldorf methods.
  • Experience in tutoring, homeschooling, mentoring, or providing childcare services.
  • Familiarity with affirming behavior management techniques and early intervention strategies.
  • Proficient writing skills for lesson planning and communication purposes.
  • Knowledge of research and project-based learning, library services and resources available for classroom use.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
  • Previous experience in homeschool settings is a plus.

Schedule

  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:45 am to 2:30 pm
  • Morning and Afternoon K-12 Tutoring

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 18 per week
