Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards across subjects such as literacy, math, science, and social studies.
- Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and maintaining a safe, respectful learning environment.
- Provide individualized attention and tutoring to students needing extra help with reading, writing, math, or social-emotional skills.
- Incorporate learning technology tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Collaborate with special education teams to support students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism or requiring early intervention strategies.
- Lead or assist in physical education activities to promote health and motor development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and classroom activities; assist in preparing reports for standardized testing and evaluations.
- Foster strong communication with parents and guardians through conferences, updates, and written reports to support student success.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, classroom management techniques, curriculum development, and educational best practices.
Experience
- Prior classroom experience working with elementary-aged children in a school or childcare setting is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development theories.
- Experience developing lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math instruction, and library services.
- Proven ability to work effectively with children with diverse needs, including those requiring special education or working with individuals with autism.
- Familiarity with learning technology platforms and tools used for instructional purposes.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, students, parents, and administrators.
- Previous private school or Montessori teaching experience is a plus but not required.
