Ummah™ Center School (UCS) is a non-profit full-time Islamic school. We opened our doors in the fall of 2023 in Columbia Station – a small town nestled in the Southwest suburbs of Cleveland. The school is approved as a Chartered Non-Public School by the State of Ohio. We currently serve 131 students from Prek-3 through grade 8 coming from a diverse and dynamic Muslim community.

Elementary School Homeroom Teacher Position Summary:
Seeking a dedicated, dynamic, and faith-driven Elementary School Teacher to be a homeroom teacher level in an Islamic school environment. The ideal candidate will foster academic excellence while nurturing students’ Islamic character, identity, and moral development. The teacher will create an engaging classroom rooted in Islamic values and high educational standards.

The homeroom teacher acts as the Muslim role model for teachers and students and plays a crucial role in nurturing students' Islamic understanding and practice. The teacher should be an actively practicing Muslim who demonstrates commitment to Islamic values in personal and professional life. Candidates will be expected to discuss their understanding of Islam and how Islamic values inform their daily conduct, leadership style, and engagement with students, staff, families and the community.

Core Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons in core subject areas of Math, English, Science and Social Studies.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with state standards and school curriculum.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Integrate Islamic values and perspectives where appropriate.
  • Use data-driven instruction to monitor and improve student performance.
  • Prepare students for assessments and standardized testing.

Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and Islamically grounded classroom environment.
  • Implement positive behavior management strategies.
  • Promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Student Development

  • Support students’ academic, emotional, and spiritual growth.
  • Model Islamic character (akhlaq) and professionalism.
  • Encourage leadership, responsibility, and strong moral values.

Assessment & Communication

  • Design and administer assessments within the assigned subject area.
  • Maintain accurate records of grades and student progress.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Collaborate with colleagues and administration.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
  • Support school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
  • Contribute to a positive Islamic school culture

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant subject area.
  • Teaching certification (state certification preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of middle school curriculum in assigned subject.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to Islamic values and the mission of an Islamic school.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Prior experience teaching in an Islamic school setting.
  • Experience teaching middle school students.
  • Familiarity with integrating faith-based learning across the curriculum.
