Elementary Lead Teacher - Montessori

Webster Montessori School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary Lead Teacher to join our joyful, warm and connected teaching team for the 2026-27 school year.

Our ideal candidate has an AMI or AMS Elementary diploma and a minimum of three years of experience leading a Montessori elementary classroom or similar environment. They are passionate about child-centered education, adaptable, innovative, and collaborative. This full-time position involves ensuring a supportive, enriching, and inclusive Montessori environment.

Start Date: August 1, 2026 or earlier. We are open to having the right candidate start immediately.

Reports to: Head of School

Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 per year

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm during the 10-month school year, with requirements for attending curricular and school events throughout the year (Typically 1-2 events per quarter)

The school year typically is the last week of August through the third week of June.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing child-led learning experiences according to the Montessori Elementary Curriculum
  • Observing, documenting, and assessing children’s progress
  • Effective classroom management of a mixed-age classroom community
  • Working with students to guide student-led initiatives and foster independence
  • Communicating regularly with parents about their child’s development, the ability to navigate parent conversations with ease
  • Supervision and guidance of the Classroom Assistant
  • Collaborating with colleagues to foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment
  • Care of the prepared environment and materials

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participation as a member of our Child Study Team
  • Participation in regular and recurring meetings with Administration as required
  • Participation in Professional Development as required by your supervisor
  • Participation in our Peer Observation program
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred)
  • AMI or AMS Elementary Training or equivalent Montessori certification completed
  • WMS will sponsor AMI certification along with all related costs for the right candidate
  • At least 3-5 years experience as a lead classroom teacher, preferably in a Montessori classroom or other child-led learning environment.
  • Proficiency with technology and willingness to adopt technology
  • WMS uses the Google and Microsoft Suite of products, as well as Transparent Classroom, Brightwheel, and others)
  • A deep understanding of and respect for the unique journey of each child.
  • Science of Reading and or Orton Gillingham experience and credentials preferred
  • Child Study Trained or willing to complete the online Child Study training (virtual)
