Elementary Teacher (K–4)
Location: Legacy Academy of Excellence (Columbus and Mansfield Campuses)
Reports to: Building Principal
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Elementary Teacher is to implement the curriculum and support the academic and personal success of each student. This is achieved by delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences that deepen students’ understanding of multiple literacy concepts. Teachers must also demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement through reflective practice and collaboration.

- Flexibility in adapting to changing priorities and conditions
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Mastery of academic content and behavior intervention strategies
- 1–5 years of teaching experience preferred
- Valid Ohio State Teaching License or active application for a substitute license (required)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (required)
Responsibilities:
- Implement curriculum and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons
- Design and administer both informal and formal assessments to measure student progress
- Use data to refine instruction and guide decision-making
- Collaborate with colleagues to address students’ academic and social-emotional needs
- Participate in curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions, including occasional after-school and evening events
- Foster a safe, supportive classroom culture rooted in high expectations and shared responsibility
- Uphold and model school policies, core values, and a strict code of conduct
- Set and achieve ambitious academic and social-emotional goals for students
- Model and promote positive student behaviors (e.g., grit, self-control, social intelligence, optimism, curiosity)
- Engage in continuous professional development and collaborate to improve instructional practices
- Maintain a structured, orderly, and academically rigorous classroom environment
- Ensure all students are prepared for advancement to the next academic level
- Be accountable for student mastery of academic standards
- Communicate regularly and effectively with students, families, and team members
- Reflect on teaching practices and implement improvement strategies as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
