Job Overview
We are seeking a Christ-centered, passionate and energetic Elementary School Teacher to inspire and educate young learners in 1st and 2nd grades. This vital role involves creating a nurturing classroom environment where children develop a strong spiritual and academic foundation. The ideal candidate knows Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and brings to our Academy enthusiasm for early childhood education, a commitment to student growth, and the ability to foster a love of learning. You will play a key role in shaping the spiritual and academic growth of your students while collaborating with colleagues, parents, and support staff to ensure a Christ-centered educational experience.
Duties
- Design and implement engaging, individualized instruction using Abeka learning materials as part of an overall Christian curriculum for a small class of early elementary students emphasizing reading, reasoning, grace and Truth.
- Foster a supportive classroom environment through effective classroom management and behavior management strategies that promote Christ-like qualities like respect for authority, humility, kindness, grace, etc...
- Assess student progress regularly through age- and developmentally-appropriate formative methods with an emphasis on the growth of the whole child, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
- Mentor students individually or in small groups to support early intervention efforts and personalized learning goals.
- Incorporate library services and educational resources to enrich lessons and promote literacy development.
- Collaborate with colleagues on Christian curriculum development, lesson planning, extracurricular activities, and other initiatives to support the Academy's mission and see God glorified.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth related to developing a Biblical worldview, childhood development, tutoring techniques, behavior management strategies, and other areas/topics necessary to provide high-quality Christian education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; degree or certification in elementary education preferred.
- Proven classroom experience working with children in grades 1-2, including private school settings, Sunday school, or similar environments.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
- Knowledge of Christian curriculum development principles across core subjects such as Bible, literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
- Familiarity with working with multi-age or multi-need classrooms; experience in early intervention is advantageous.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior proactively in a Christ-like manner while fostering an inclusive atmosphere that supports diverse learners.
- Writing skills necessary for lesson planning documentation, progress reports, and communication with families.
