Elementary School Teacher’s Aide (TK-3)
Full-Time (10-months), Non-Exempt, Category 4
Salary Range: $25.00-$27.00

The elementary teacher's aide supports a lead teacher in the classroom by helping with instructional tasks, maintaining a safe and orderly environment, assisting with student behavior, and preparing materials. Key duties include reinforcing lessons one-on-one or in small groups, supervising students during activities like recess and lunch, taking attendance and assisting with recordkeeping, and performing administrative tasks like preparing handouts and organizing materials. The aide ensures students' safety and well-being and works under the teacher's direct guidance to foster student learning. The aide maintains open lines of communication with teachers and administrators.
Key Responsibilities

Instructional Support:

Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.

Help prepare educational materials and equipment for lessons.

Support the lead teacher in implementing the classroom curriculum.

Classroom Management:
-
Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and on field trips.

Promote positive interactions and help manage student behavior according to school rules.

Maintain a safe and clean learning environment by tidying the classroom.

Administrative Tasks:

Record student attendance and assist with recordkeeping, such as calculating grades.

Help prepare and organize lesson materials, such as printing, laminating, and creating handouts.

Maintain classroom supplies.

Professional Development:

Attend staff meetings, school programs, and in-service trainings to stay informed and involved.

Additional Duties:

Assist with carpool drop-off and pick up to ensure the safety of all students

Before and after school duties as assigned.

Assist with planning and coordination of Student Life activities (spirit days, assemblies, talent show, etc.)

Carry out all logistical needs per request of the lead teacher or Principal

Interface with parents and students to schedule meetings as needed

Facilitate communication with families and communities as requested by the Deans of Students

Additional duties as assigned
Hours
As is necessary to fulfill these obligations in an effective manner, the Elementary Teacher’s Aide will typically work from 7:15am-3:45pm with a 30-minute lunch break. Morning punctuality is especially important to support carpool/attendance duties. Extra hours must be approved by the Principal.
Qualifications
A high school diploma is required and previous experience assisting in an educational setting is preferred.
