Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Elementary Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. This role involves creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment tailored to each student's unique abilities, fostering academic growth and personal development. Experience in early childhood education, classroom management, and curriculum development is highly valued. The teacher will collaborate closely with families, therapists, and other educators to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and promote positive behavioral health.

Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with state standards and student IEP goals.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with disabilities, including speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and literacy education.
  • Conduct assessments using standardized testing to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively through behavioral management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other professionals to support student development.
  • Provide tutoring and mentoring to enhance students’ academic skills in areas such as math, reading, and writing.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEPs, and communication with parents or guardians.
  • Incorporate diverse instructional methods including Montessori or preschool approaches as appropriate for early childhood education settings.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education practices, early intervention, and childhood development.
  • Foster a nurturing classroom environment that promotes social-emotional learning and inclusive participation for all students.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of special education laws and IEP development processes.
  • Excellent communication skills for working effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and specialists.
  • Proficiency in curriculum development tailored for children with disabilities or developmental delays.
  • Experience working with children with autism, deaf education needs, or other developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health strategies and behavior management techniques.
  • Ability to adapt lesson plans for diverse learners using literacy education, math instruction, and tutoring methods.
  • Experience with classroom management in inclusive settings such as private schools or Montessori environments.
  • Skills in speech therapy support and behavioral therapy integration into daily instruction.
  • Proven ability to work with children across early childhood education levels from preschool through elementary grades.
  • Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and assessment tools for special education students. Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
