Elementary Special Education Teacher

Overview

Bridges is an instructional program for students with mild learning disabilities designed to meet the unique educational needs of students who have difficulty working independently and who require additional academic support in the basic areas of English, Spanish, and Math. We are currently looking for an elementary-level English and Mathematics teacher to join the Bridges program. In this dynamic role, you will develop and implement tailored educational plans, foster inclusive classroom environments, and support students' social, emotional, and academic growth.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver individualized lesson plans aligned with students’ IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals, incorporating curriculum development and literacy education strategies.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs of students with mild disabilities.
• Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to monitor progress and adjust instructional approaches accordingly.
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers, therapists, parents, and support staff to ensure comprehensive student development.
• Manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management techniques while maintaining a safe, nurturing environment conducive to learning.

Skills

• Proven experience in special education settings with classroom management expertise.
• Fully bilingual English/Spanish is required
• PR Teacher license, preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, lesson planning, and curriculum adaptation for diverse learners.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and external specialists.
• Experience in literacy education, math instruction, standardized testing procedures, and tutoring methods tailored for students with mild disabilities.
