Job Title: Elementary Specialist Music

Reports To: Bremerton Elementary Principal

Job Overview:

Crosspoint Christian School is seeking an Elementary Music Specialist who is a committed follower of Jesus, called to Christian education, and has experience integrating faith and learning in the classroom.

On the Poulsbo campus, this K-5th Grade position will instruct students in the basic principles of music theory, including rhythm, melody, pitch, and tempo. They engage students in vocal exercises such as vocalization, harmonizing, and singing, and teach them how to play various musical instruments. Additionally, they lead rehearsals to prepare for the school's Christmas and Spring concerts.

As a member of the Gateway OneTeam, you will support and demonstrate an understanding of the church’s mission: living the Jesus-centered mission. Possessing a character that reflects biblical godliness, demonstrating a meaningful personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and active involvement in a local body of Christian believers are key qualifications.

Job Status: Part-time, 9-11 months

Expected Start Date: ASAP (2025-2026 School Year)

Exempt Status: Non-exempt

Salary Range: $18/hr

Hours per week: 7.5 hrs/wk

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Planning and Teaching:

  • Plan and deliver engaging music lessons that cover a range of musical concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, and music history.
  • Teach basic music theory, vocal techniques, and instrumental skills.
  • Utilize various teaching methods, including singing, movement, and instrumental activities.
  • Create and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and students' needs.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students on their musical performance and progress.

Grading:

  • Utilize Renweb for inputting all assignments, tests, quizzes, and projects in a timely manner, using the grading scale provided by the school.
  • Keeps an accurate record of all grades for each student.
  • Uses Microsoft TEAMS Assignments for documenting all homework assignments and for communication with students.

Classroom Management:

  • Keeps an accurate record of all attendance and tardiness for each student.
  • Maintains discipline in the classroom to ensure maximum learning.
  • Always keeps an emergency lesson plan and current substitute folder in case of an unexpected absence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Communication:

  • Communicates with parents on an “as needed” basis regarding their student’s academic or behavioral status in the class.
  • Returns phone calls and emails within 24 hours.
  • Keeps an accurate record of all communications with parents.
  • Advises the administration as soon as plans to be away from the classroom are being considered.

Education Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
