Jacksonville Classical Academy is currently hiring an Elementary Teacher's Assistant to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year who has a passion for classical education and supporting student growth. Overall Responsibilities

The Teacher Assistant supports the classroom teacher in maintaining an organized, engaging, and academically focused learning environment. He or she assists with daily classroom operations, supports instruction, works with individual students and small groups, and contributes to a school culture centered on virtue and high expectations.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Assist the classroom teacher with instructional activities and classroom management.
  • Support students individually and in small groups to reinforce concepts and encourage academic growth.
  • Prepare classroom materials, organize supplies, and assist with classroom setup and transitions.
  • Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional periods as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming learning environment.
  • Support teachers with grading, record keeping, and administrative classroom tasks as appropriate.
  • Communicate professionally and positively with students, families, faculty, and administrators.
  • Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist with school events and other duties as assigned.

Leadership

  • Maintain a high personal standard consistent with the school’s Core Virtues, vision, mission, and motto.
  • Support the vision, policies, financial objectives, and directives of the governing board.
  • Support a positive school culture based on mutual respect and shared expectations.
  • Model professionalism, responsibility, and a commitment to student success.
  • Be willing to assist others as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate’s degree or undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working with elementary-aged students in a classroom, childcare, camp, tutoring, or educational setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and other industry-specific technology.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs.
  • Knowledge of classical education and classical teaching methods is preferred.
  • Must meet all state and school requirements for employment.
