Job Overview

Tutoring Excellence is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Elementary Through High School All-Subject Tutor to join our dynamic educational team. In this role, you will provide engaging, personalized instruction to students across a wide range of grade levels, from elementary through high school, helping them build strong academic foundations, improve confidence, and achieve success across core subject areas.

The ideal candidate is passionate about education and skilled at adapting instruction to meet the individual needs of students at different developmental and academic levels. This position requires the ability to support students in subjects such as reading, writing, math, science, and other general academic coursework, while fostering a positive, encouraging, and productive learning environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized tutoring instruction to students from elementary through high school in a variety of subject areas, including reading, writing, math, science, and general academic support
  • Design and deliver tailored lessons aligned with curriculum standards and each student’s academic level, learning style, and educational goals
  • Adapt existing lessons and instructional strategies to incorporate diverse teaching methods and learning technologies
  • Support students in building foundational academic skills, study habits, organization, and confidence across subject areas
  • Assess student understanding regularly through formative and summative evaluations, and adjust instruction based on performance and progress
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment through effective behavior management and positive student interactions
  • Provide age-appropriate instruction that supports both academic development and, when appropriate, social-emotional growth
  • Work effectively with students of varying abilities, backgrounds, and developmental stages
  • Implement accommodations and differentiated instruction strategies for students with diverse learning needs
  • Communicate student progress, concerns, and successes in a clear and professional manner with families and team members as needed

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of the academic curriculum across elementary, middle school, and high school levels
  • Ability to tutor a variety of core subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and general study skills
  • Experience tutoring or teaching children and adolescents in one-on-one or small-group settings
  • Proficiency with educational technology tools to enhance instruction, engagement, and learning outcomes
  • Strong classroom or small-group management skills
  • Familiarity with special education strategies, accommodations, and differentiated instruction for students with additional learning needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to clearly explain academic concepts to students at various developmental stages
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying learning styles
  • Experience working with younger students, including elementary-aged children, is strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting preschool-aged or early learners is beneficial, but not required
  • Passion for helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally
