The Elevator Inspector is responsible for conducting thorough inspections, examinations, and testing of elevators, escalators, and vertical transportation systems. The inspector ensures full compliance with local regulatory requirements, EIAC standards, international codes (such as EN 81, ASME A17.1), manufacturer specifications, and company procedures. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct periodic, statutory, and commissioning inspections of elevators, escalators, and moving walks in accordance with EIAC and international standards (BS EN 81-20/50, EN 115, ASME A17.1, etc.).
- Verify installation conformity, operational safety, machine room conditions, car top access, pits, safety circuits, and emergency functions.
- Ensure all inspections are planned, scheduled, and executed efficiently in coordination with clients and internal operations teams.
- Ensure compliance with approved inspection procedures, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Identify non-conformities, hazards, and defects; prepare detailed inspection reports with corrective recommendations.
- Liaise with clients, technicians, and contractors to resolve technical issues and ensure closure of findings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory updates, relevant standards, and best engineering practices.
- Support internal quality initiatives, including procedure updates, risk assessments, and technical training.
- Ensure all inspection activities align with company QHSE policies and safe work practices.
- Participate in internal and external EIAC assessments when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in elevator and escalator inspection, maintenance, or testing.
- Strong knowledge of elevator safety components, control systems, and operation principles.
- Familiarity with relevant standards (BS EN 81-20/50, EN 115, ASME A17.1, EIAC requirements).
- Certification in elevator inspection (preferred):
- Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI),
- EN 81-based certification, or
- Recognized local/international inspection qualification.
- Strong report-writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Physical fitness to access car tops, pits, and confined spaces.
- Valid UAE Driving License is mandatory.
