An ELV System Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing cost estimates, material take-offs, and project budgets for ELV systems. ELV systems typically include security, communication, and building automation systems, such as CCTV, access control, fire alarms, public address systems, and structured cabling. The role bridges technical knowledge and financial planning to ensure projects are executed efficiently within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimation & Costing
- Prepare detailed estimates for ELV systems including material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Perform Bill of Quantities (BOQ) preparation and material take-offs.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and client requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Technical Review
- Study architectural and MEP drawings to determine ELV system requirements.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to clarify technical details.
- Ensure compliance with international standards, client requirements, and local regulations.
- Tendering & Proposal Support
- Prepare quotations, proposals, and tender submissions for ELV projects.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to get competitive pricing.
- Support contract negotiations related to ELV system works.
- Project Planning Support
- Assist in scheduling materials and resources based on project timelines.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative solutions.
- Provide inputs for risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
- Coordination & Reporting
- Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and procurement teams.
- Maintain records of estimates, revisions, and material costs.
- Provide regular reports on cost projections and budget tracking.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of ELV systems: CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Alarm, Public Address, Structured Cabling, Fire Alarm, Intercom, and Building Automation.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and estimation software (like MS Project, CostX, or similar).
- Analytical and numerical skills for accurate cost estimation.
- Understanding of local and international codes and standards.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
- Experience in ELV systems estimation for commercial, residential, or industrial projects (usually 2–5 years).
- Certification in project management or cost estimation is a plus.
