Embedded Firmware Tester

We are looking for an Embedded Firmware Tester to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying and validating firmware running on embedded hardware platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance with design specifications. You will work closely with firmware developers, hardware engineers, and product teams to identify defects early, improve test coverage, and uphold the quality of our embedded products.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts for embedded firmware across multiple hardware platforms.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and boundary testing on firmware builds.
• Set up and operate test environments including development boards, debuggers (JTAG/SWD), logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Automate repetitive test procedures using scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
• Identify, document, and track defects providing clear reproduction steps and supporting logs.
• Collaborate with firmware developers to understand design specifications, interface definitions, and expected behavior.
• Review firmware requirements and design documents to derive testable acceptance criteria.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving testing standards and best practices.
• Support field-issue investigations by reproducing reported bugs and analyzing firmware logs and memory dumps.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in embedded systems development, with a preference for hands-on testing or quality assurance experience.
• Familiarity with microcontroller architectures (e.g., ESP32, STM32).
• Working knowledge of C and/or C++ in an embedded context.
• Familiarity with RTOS-based systems.
• Experience using debugging and test tools such as JTAG/SWD debuggers, serial terminals, and multimeters.
• Understanding of common embedded communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C).
• Basic proficiency in scripting (Python preferred) for test automation or log parsing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for clear defect reporting and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Direct experience in a firmware or embedded QA/test role.
• Experience with wireless protocols such as BLE, Wi-Fi, or Zigbee.
• Knowledge of version control systems (Git).
• Understanding of software testing methodologies (black-box, white-box, exploratory testing).
• ISTQB Foundation Level certification or equivalent is a plus.

Pay: AED7,000.00 - AED9,000.00 per month
