Embedded Systems Field Application Engineer

Overview:

Himax Technologies is on the lookout for a dynamic and enthusiastic Embedded Systems Field Application Engineer (FAE) to join our AI Sensing U.S. Marketing and Sales team in Irvine, California. This role is perfect for someone passionate about embedded systems and eager to make a significant impact by helping our customers adopt cutting-edge AI sensing solutions. This is an in-person position at our Irvine office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gain a deep understanding of Himax AI Sensing product architecture, strategy, and system applications across various markets, including IoT, security systems, and wearables.
  • Provide top-notch customer engineering support for hardware (e.g., schematic review, power and clock optimization), embedded firmware, and development tools.
  • Develop reference designs and projects to support demonstrations and customer design requirements.
  • Engage with customers to build and nurture technical relationships with their engineering, architecture, and development teams, including senior management.
  • Act as the technical liaison between customers and Himax product managers and engineering teams to clarify, prioritize, and track customer issues.
  • Proactively address and resolve technical challenges to ensure customer success in a dynamic market with evolving conditions and product requirements.
  • Participate in and support customer meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Willingness to travel, primarily within the US, and work across time zone

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience. 3+ years of experience as an embedded software engineer is preferred.
  • Experience with microcontrollers and their peripherals, IDE, and hardware-software integration.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Proficiency in algorithm development using C, C++, Python architecture, interrupt processing, registers, and assembly code.
  • Experience with image and voice embedded system applications is a plus.
  • Experience with Windows applications/service development is also a plus.
  • Great communication skill is required to deliver clear technical requirements or issues with customers and internal teams.
  • Skilled in analyzing and debugging using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin.

Salary Range

  • $100,000- $125,000 (DOE)

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role.
