POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director under the direction of a senior management and in partnership with the Medical Director is responsible for the operations of all aspects of the Emergency Service to include but not limited to clinical care, quality assessment and process improvement, staff and staff performance and education, patient satisfaction, fiancés, throughput and interaction with other departments of the hospital and prehospital providers. The Director is the administrative lead and will Co-Chair the Emergency Service Line with the Medical Director.
These duties include: recommending a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care, providing for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in the department, participating in selecting outside sources for needed services, and managing the financial and business and ethical aspects of the department. In addition this role maintains overall accountability/responsibility for staffing the unit during all hours of operation. The Director is also responsible to ensure department compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) and all applicable agencies (local, state and federal) requirements, hospital, division and corporate policies and initiatives.
The Director under the direction of a senior management team member is the primary liaison and facility oversight on the contracted services groups in the Emergency Department to include the contracted physician group. The Director collaborates with senior management, medical staff, and department directors to create a climate and structure that encourages staff to set and achieve goals in providing quality and cost-effective services to both internal and external customers.
Supervises Nursing Manager, Trauma Program Staff, Registered Nurses, contract RN’s, EMT, Unit Secretary and support personnel.
