Emergency Medical Technician - Basic

Join our dedicated emergency response team as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, where your skills will make a vital difference in saving lives and providing critical care in urgent situations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in dynamic environments, delivering compassionate patient care while utilizing your expertise in emergency medicine. As an EMT - Basic, you will be the first responder, ensuring swift, effective treatment and transportation for those in need. Your energy and commitment will help us uphold the highest standards of safety and care across diverse settings. Please do be advised that this role is NON-911, and is considered "IFT" work. Average is 1 to 3 transports per shift, with the occasional long distance transport. My ambulances are well taken care of, lots of leg room, ICE cold Air conditioning, Stryker Powerload and stretcher, Lucas devices, Cooler for drinks and snacks. It's not a stressful or difficult job, but it takes a special someone to understand that.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls, providing immediate medical assistance to patients at the scene and during transport
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine the severity of injuries or illnesses
  • Administer basic life support (BLS), including airway management, injection administration, medication delivery, and use of DME (durable medical equipment) as needed
  • Perform patient triage at emergency scenes, prioritizing care based on urgency and trauma level
  • Operate emergency vehicles safely while adhering to traffic laws; perform heavy lifting and physical exertion during patient extrication and transport
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care reports, vital signs, medical interventions, and incident details with attention to detail and clarity
  • Follow aseptic techniques and medical terminology standards to ensure patient safety and compliance with healthcare protocols

Experience

  • Prior EMT experience with a strong foundation in emergency medicine procedures and patient care practices
  • Hospital experience or background working within a Level I Trauma Center or Level II trauma facility is highly desirable
  • Critical care experience, including critical care transport or ICU exposure, is a significant advantage
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology (medication administration), venipuncture, and injection techniques
  • Familiarity with triage protocols, urgent care procedures, and emergency room operations enhances effectiveness in this role
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure with excellent driving skills for rapid response situations
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, vital signs interpretation, airway management techniques, and physical examination skills

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
