The Department of Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, is seeking a per diem Emergency Medicine attending physician to join our outstanding faculty in Boston.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated academic Emergency Medicine physician to advance clinical excellence, scholarly inquiry, and medical education within a world-class academic medical center. This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals with a passion for teaching, research, innovation, and high-quality patient care in a collaborative and collegial environment. As part of the dynamic team, you will be at the forefront of developing or building upon a specialized research area of research expertise. BIDMC is a rich environment for research with robust infrastructure (e.g. a standing clinical research team), support (e.g. IRB writer, statistical support, database support), and mentorship (multiple NIH RO1 funded investigators within the department) to assist in facilitating a successful research career.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality, compassionate clinical care in a high-acuity, urban academic emergency department.
  • Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Engage in academic activities including research, quality improvement, education, informatics, administration, or other scholarly pursuits aligned with your interests.
  • Collaborate with a diverse and multidisciplinary team of emergency medicine professionals committed to advancing the field and improving patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the department’s academic and strategic goals through clinical service, scholarly engagement, and departmental leadership opportunities.
  • Qualifications:
  • MD or equivalent medical degree.
  • Board certification (or eligibility) in Emergency Medicine.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic emergency medicine, with interests in areas such as medical education, clinical innovation, health equity, operations, research or quality and safety.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative spirit.
  • Eligibility for Massachusetts medical licensure.
