Job Summary
The Physician in the Acute Care provides services to the District as an inpatient provider. Works collaboratively with patients and other members of the care team to maintain a patient-centered approach to care that supports positive patient experiences while ensuring delivery of evidence-based, quality care.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities
1. *Provide services to the District as an inpatient provider for Hospital patients requiring such care. Take ownership for care of assigned patients according to current standards of care.
2. * Engage in consultations with other Clinic and Hospital Practitioners. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary staff to best administer patient care, admitting patients needing hospital-level care including ED boarders when necessary, daily rounding on all admitted patients, safe discharge or transfer of patients with appropriate disposition, medical management of all patients under your care, appropriate documentation of and billing for said care, supervision of resident physicians and medical students when present, supervision of outpatient infusion services, leadership of inpatient staff including leading weekday multidisciplinary rounds.
3. *Actively assist and participate in ongoing quality improvement and risk management programs with respect to inpatient medicine services. Work to develop and implement policies affecting the provision of Practitioner Services in coordination with District administration. Continually develop and promote standards and quality control of Practitioner Services through (1) participation in all ordinary and special medical record audits for quality of care, completeness, timeliness, and medical/legal considerations, (2) review of, response to and management of problems and complaints as related to providing Practitioner Services, (3) participation in the development of a policies and procedures manual, follow-up instructions, protocols, and record retrieval systems, and (4) preparation for and participation in regulatory reviews and accreditation surveys.
4. *Submit all charges for professional services provided on a timely basis and consistent with District’s policies and procedures. Provide a reasonable amount of charity care to patients, as mutually agreed by the parties.
5. *Comply with all on-call and call coverage obligations, if any, as established by and in accordance with Hospital’s Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations.
6. *Meets or exceeds quality care standards, achieves clinical excellence, contributes to quality improvement, and strives for high patient satisfaction. Independently plans work and develops procedures to accomplish goals. Participates actively in the quality improvement system, complies with all appropriate Washington State Department of Health standards, National Patient Safety goals, and other quality improvement projects. Participate in the resolution of patient and provider complaints and enhancement of patient and provider satisfaction as measured by regular surveys.
7. *Complete and maintain adequate and proper medical records with respect to all patients examined or treated in accordance with all applicable legal, accreditation and third-party payor standards within such time limits as are required by Hospital or its Medical Staff bylaws, rules and regulations. Practitioner is subject to any fines and/or other penalties pertaining to delinquent medical records pursuant to Hospital’s Medical Staff Bylaws.
8. *Maintains professional skills through research and training/continuing education opportunities. Participates in interdisciplinary meetings; stays abreast of trends and best practices; develops and implements new and revised methods, practices, policies, techniques and procedures. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and federal, state and local laws.
9. *Provide input to District on issues relating to such as budget development, staff evaluations, equipment and supply acquisitions, etc. Assist with supervision and provide input to District’s or Hospital’s administration regarding services and non-provider staff.
10. Special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Organizational Responsibilities

Required Education and Experience
Successful completion of an approved ACGME/AOA accredited residency program with fulfillment or qualification of board certification within the requirements of the applicant’s Board.
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations
1. Active and unrestricted MD or DO license in the state of Washington
2. Board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine
3. DEA certification
4. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

1. Ability to diagnose, develop treatment plans, and treat patients across a broad spectrum of medical diagnosis.
