Position Summary

Working under the Head of Readers & Information Services, the Emerging Technology & Digital Inclusion Librarian is responsible for developing and delivering technology instruction on topics involving Artificial Intelligence (AI), online safety, digital and media literacy, social media, library electronic resources, Microsoft Office and Google suites, Adobe Creative Cloud, smart devices, and other new or innovative technology of interest to the community.

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities, but may oversee assigned volunteers.


What You’ll Be Working On

  • Develop and provide computer software and hardware instruction to patrons and staff on topics involving Artificial Intelligence (AI), online safety, digital and media literacy, social media, library electronic resources, Microsoft Office and Google suites, Mac computers, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other new or innovative software applications and technologies
  • Collaborate on the library's exploration and potential adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for patron services and internal operations
  • Collaborate on digital inclusion initiatives focused on improving technology access to patrons with disabilities, seniors, and other underserved groups
  • Collaborate on technology initiatives and special projects
  • Conduct technology appointments with patrons
  • Assigned shifts at the reference desk as scheduled


What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum Education: Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA Accredited institution
  • Minimum Experience:
    • One (1) year a library or other customer service-based field/organization
    • One (1) year of experience teaching, tutoring, or supporting learners in a classroom or comparable learning environment.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and their safe and ethical use
  • Extensive knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office and Google suites
  • Skilled in digital literacy with the ability to create, evaluate, share, and understand information in a variety of formats
