Job Summary
The Employability, Skills & Terminology Trainer is responsible for delivering engaging training on employability skills and terminology, assessing learner needs, and supporting learners to achieve outcomes. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop curriculum, facilitates effective learning experiences, and measures impact through evaluation and reporting.
Key Responsibilities

Teaches classes according to the agreed schedules.

Prepares lesson plans and training exercises in line with the existing outlines and module
descriptions as well as TVET and teaching best practice, as outlined by FIP requirements.

Develops schemes of work and lesson plans.

Demonstrates strong emotional intelligence to manage trainee behaviour, handle high-pressure
classroom situations, and maintain a positive learning environment.

Encourages professional behaviour and a workplace-oriented mind set among trainees to enhance
job readiness and employability skills.

Uses real-life industry scenarios (e.g, poultry, technical roles) to deliver employability skills in a
practical and relatable manner.

Demonstrates strong understanding of industry-specific terminology and applies it effectively to
meet the needs of trainees across different specializations

Takes active responsibility for the personal and social development of students including extra-
curricular activities, tutorial provision etc.

Prepares tests and exams in coordination with a superior / colleague.

Grades student tests and exams in line with the set standards.

Provides performance reports on learner progress as required.

Takes responsibility for all program administration (registers, student tracking).

Coach trainees to improve performance and attitude.
-
Assess effectiveness of training approaches and methods.

Documents Course Materials and Lecture Plans in the shared drive, in the formats available and in
FIP LMS.

Produce the relevant training manuals and training aids as required and maintain all relevant training
records.

Conduct analysis and transmit reports of training activities to FIP on a regular basis.

Report on training activities on a monthly /weekly basis.

Participates in on-going professional development.

Adheres to feedback and development points from teaching and learning observations.

Participates in the on-going growth of specialist department.

Supports operational objectives of the department.

Cooperates and liaises with other departments as required.

Providing mentoring, supervision, professional support, counselling and guidance for teachers.

Contributing to the leadership of department development planning and identifying priorities.

Assist Department Leader with the on-going identification of Training needs and plan effective
implementation.

Assist Department Leader in preparing and implementing the FIP & TVTC’s Strategic Objectives.
-
Participates in college promotional and engagement activity, i.e. open days, parent’s days, staff
development activity.

Carry out routine and adhoc administrative tasks as directed.
-
Acts in accordance to polytechnic policies.
-
Willing to work irregular hours, as and when required (evenings, weekends), in the interests of the
organisation.
Required Qualifications

X-Y years of experience in [field]

Demonstrated experience delivering training or teaching in a professional setting

Strong knowledge of employability skills and terminology

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to assess learning needs and adapt content for diverse audiences
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in curriculum development and instructional design

Certification in training, facilitation, or related field
