We are seeking a motivated, knowledgeable, and client-focused Employee Benefits Counselor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience counseling employees on both core and ancillary benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary benefits, spending accounts, and related enrollment processes.
This role requires strong benefits knowledge, excellent communication skills, experience working in both call center and onsite environments, and the ability to guide employees through benefit options with professionalism and accuracy. Key Responsibilities
The Employee Benefits Counselor will:
- Educate employees on core and ancillary benefit offerings during open enrollment, new hire enrollment, and qualifying life events.
- Explain medical, dental, vision, life, disability, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, and other voluntary benefit options.
- Provide guidance on HSA, HRA, FSA, QLE, COBRA-related questions, and dependent verification processes.
- Assist employees with benefit elections, changes, documentation requirements, and enrollment deadlines.
- Support both call center-based benefits counseling and onsite enrollment meetings or employee education sessions.
- Navigate and assist employees through various HRIS, benefits administration, enrollment, and carrier systems.
- Ensure employee information is handled accurately, confidentially, and in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Resolve benefits-related questions and escalate complex issues when needed.
- Maintain accurate notes, records, and documentation of employee interactions.
- Partner with internal teams, HR contacts, brokers, carriers, and vendors to ensure a smooth employee experience.
- Represent the company professionally during onsite visits, enrollment events, and client-facing interactions.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Employee Benefits Counselor, Benefits Specialist, Enrollment Counselor, Benefits Advocate, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of core and ancillary employee benefits.
- Experience with HSA, HRA, QLE processing, dependent verification, and benefit enrollment procedures.
- Experience using various HRIS, benefits administration, enrollment, or carrier platforms.
- Prior experience in a call center environment.
- Ability and willingness to participate in onsite enrollment meetings and employee benefits events.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to explain complex benefit information clearly.
- Professional, reliable, and comfortable working with employees at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and employee inquiries in a fast-paced environment.
- English and Spanish Fluency Required.
- Active Life and Health License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with open enrollment projects, new hire benefits onboarding, and benefits education campaigns.
- Bilingual abilities in additional languages are a plus.
- Prior team lead, training, mentoring, or supervisory experience is a plus.
- Experience working with brokers, carriers, TPAs, or benefit administration firms is strongly preferred.
