JOB SUMMARY:

Are you a recent graduate who is curious about the insurance industry and ready to start building a career in employee benefits? You do not need experience to apply. You need drive, a desire to help people, and a willingness to learn. At Venbrook, we will give you the foundation. This 6-week paid internship is designed to introduce you to the world of employee benefits from the ground up, with structured mentorship, real exposure to client work, and full sponsorship toward your Life & Health insurance license. Interns who show the right aptitude and enthusiasm will have the opportunity to convert to a full-time role post-internship.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are not looking for someone who already knows the insurance industry. We are looking for someone who wants to learn it. If you are a recent graduate who communicates well, genuinely enjoys helping people, and is eager to build a career in a field where those qualities matter every single day, this program was built for you.

The right candidate brings:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a natural ability to connect with others
  • A desire to help people and make a meaningful difference in how employees experience their benefits
  • Curiosity and a genuine eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
  • Professionalism, reliability, and the drive to show up and do good work
  • An interest in starting a career specifically in employee benefits
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

This is not a coffee-and-copies internship. Over six weeks, you will be introduced to the world of employee benefits from the inside, learning how companies design and manage the benefit programs their employees depend on every day. You will rotate through every major area of benefits, from health and wellness to retirement planning, and get real exposure to how client relationships work in a professional brokerage setting.

Here is what your six weeks look like:

Week 1 - Welcome to the Industry

  • Get oriented to Venbrook, our team, and how we work
  • Learn the basics of insurance and why employee benefits matter to businesses and the people they employ
  • Understand the full benefits landscape: health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement

Week 2 - Health Insurance & Wellness

  • Dive into health insurance products: HMOs, PPOs, traditional plans, and managed care
  • Explore how wellness programs are designed and why they matter to employers
  • Review real-world case studies of effective employer health strategies

Week 3 - Life & Disability Insurance

  • Learn how life and disability coverage protects employees and their families
  • Get introduced to the tools and platforms our team uses every day
  • Practice through role-play: how to handle client questions and walk through a claims scenario

Week 4 - Retirement Benefits

  • Understand 401(k) plans, pensions, and other savings vehicles
  • Learn the compliance basics that govern retirement programs
  • Run through a simulated enrollment and administration exercise

Week 5 - Client Management & Sales

  • Learn how we manage employer accounts and build long-term client relationships
  • Understand the consultative approach to presenting and selling benefits solutions
  • Practice in live role-plays: client meetings, problem-solving, and account service

Week 6 - Put It All Together

  • Shadow a Senior Client Executive and see real client work in action
  • Build and present your own proposed benefits program for a hypothetical employer
  • Receive direct feedback from your mentor and discuss what a career path in EB looks like for you

Throughout the program you will also have:

  • Weekly one-on-one check-ins with your assigned mentor
  • Access to guest speakers from across the benefits and HR industry
  • Networking opportunities across Venbrook's business units
  • Hands-on exposure to the tools and platforms our team uses with clients

WE WILL GET YOU LICENSED:

One of the most valuable things we offer interns is sponsorship toward your state Life & Health insurance license. We cover your study materials, prep resources, and exam fee. We also carve out dedicated time in the program for you to study and prepare. Walking into a full-time role already licensed is a real advantage and a faster path to doing meaningful client work from day one.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Recent college graduate or December graduate with a degree in Business, Finance, HR, Risk Management, or a related field
  • No prior insurance or employee benefits experience required; a genuine desire to enter the industry is what matters
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a self-starter mentality
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a professional environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, Risk Management, or a related field required
  • No prior experience in insurance or employee benefits required; this program is built to introduce candidates new to the field
  • Coursework or internship experience in financial services, HR, or a client-facing environment is a plus but not required
  • Venbrook will sponsor each intern to pursue the state Life & Health insurance license during the program
  • Interns who pass the licensure exam during the program will enter any full-time role already credentialed

LICENSURE - SPONSORED BY VENBROOK:

Venbrook will fully sponsor each intern's pursuit of the state Life & Health Insurance License during the program. This includes pre-licensing study materials and exam prep resources, exam fee reimbursement upon passing, and dedicated time within the program schedule for study and preparation. Interns who enter a full-time role with an active license will have a meaningful competitive advantage and a faster path to independent client responsibility.
