Join Tang & Company as an Employee Relations Specialist – Lead Investigations and Drive Consistent, Compliant Employee Relations Practices

We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist who excels in leading complex workplace investigations, interpreting policies, and applying employment laws to real-world situations.

This is a temporary or temporary-to-permanent position, ideal for a seasoned HR professional who brings strong investigative rigor, sound judgment, and confidence in guiding leaders through sensitive and high-impact employee relations matters.

Key Responsibilities

Advanced Employee Relations & Support

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on employee relations matters, providing clear, consistent guidance rooted in policy and legal compliance.
  • Coach leaders through performance management, corrective actions, behavioral concerns, and conflict resolution.
  • Evaluate issues to determine severity, risk, and appropriate next steps using established guidelines and HR best practices.

Lead Workplace Investigations

  • Independently lead complex and sensitive investigations, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, policy violations, and workplace misconduct.
  • Conduct detailed interviews, gather and analyze evidence, prepare comprehensive findings reports, and make recommendations based on policy and legal standards.
  • Ensure investigations are conducted with neutrality, timeliness, accuracy, and strict confidentiality.

Policy Interpretation & Application

  • Interpret company policies and ensure consistent, fair, and legally compliant application across all sites and departments.
  • Identify gaps or ambiguities in policies and recommend updates or clarifications.
  • Support the development of training, tools, and communication materials that strengthen leaders’ understanding of key policies and standards.

Legal & Compliance Guidance

  • Analyze situations through the lens of federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., ADA, FMLA, EEO, wage and hour, state-specific regulations).
  • Partner with HR leadership to mitigate risk and ensure alignment with legal requirements and Tang & Company’s internal standards.
  • Track ER trends, highlight compliance risks, and propose solutions or preventive actions.

Culture, Engagement & Leadership Support

  • Assist with HR initiatives that enhance employee experience, communication, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with HR and site leadership to promote a respectful, professional, and safe workplace culture.
  • Contribute to and, when appropriate, facilitate training on topics such as investigations, performance management, workplace conduct, and HR compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–8 years of dedicated Employee Relations experience, including leading complex, high-stakes workplace investigations.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws and their practical application.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret policies, analyze evidence, and form defensible recommendations.
  • Exceptional interviewing, documentation, and report-writing skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain neutrality, manage sensitive matters with discretion, and build trust with employees and leaders.
  • Experience supporting field-based or multisite operations highly preferred.
