An established and growing legal team is seeking a highly experienced Employment Law Attorney with a strong background in school district defense litigation. This position requires a deep understanding of California labor laws, with particular emphasis on PAGA (Private Attorneys General Act) and defense-side litigation. The role offers remote flexibility with options to work out of multiple California cities, giving access to various lifestyle benefits including coastal living, entertainment, hiking, wineries, and family-oriented suburban communities.
Key Responsibilities:

• Lead school district defense cases, with a focus on employment law matters.
• Manage PAGA-related litigation from intake through resolution, including discovery and trial preparation.
• Provide legal counsel on wage/hour disputes, classification issues, and labor code compliance.
• Cultivate and maintain client relationships through presentations, networking, and strategic consulting.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff to maintain high standards of legal excellence.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8 years of employment law experience, with at least 80% focused on employment litigation in the past 5 years.
• Experience representing school districts or public entities in defense litigation.
• Proven civil trial experience preferred (1st or 2nd chair roles).
• Must have exclusively defense-side litigation experience.
• Active and in good standing with the California State Bar.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $230,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year
