EMR Application Analyst

Position Overview:
An EHR Application Analyst is a specialized IT professional responsible for the effective implementation, configuration, and support of the eClinicalWorks (eCW) electronic health record (EHR) and practice management system. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare workflows and IT expertise to ensure that healthcare providers can utilize the eCW system efficiently and effectively in their daily operations. The eClinicalWorks Application Analyst plays a crucial role in optimizing the functionality of the eCW software and ensuring seamless integration with other healthcare systems and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • System Implementation and Configuration:
    • Collaborate with the implementation team to install, configure, and customize the eClinicalWorks EHR and practice management modules based on the specific needs of the healthcare facility or organization.
    • Work closely with end-users, administrators, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and design workflows that align with best practices and regulatory guidelines.
  • Training and Support:
    • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for healthcare staff, including physicians, nurses, and administrative personnel, to ensure they are proficient in using the eClinicalWorks system effectively.
    • Provide ongoing support to end-users, addressing their inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and resolving technical problems related to eCW software usage.
  • Workflow Analysis and Optimization:
    • Analyze existing healthcare processes and workflows to identify areas of improvement and efficiency enhancements through eCW system usage.
    • Propose and implement changes to streamline clinical and administrative operations, maximizing the benefits of the EHR system.
  • System Maintenance and Upgrades:
    • Perform regular system maintenance tasks, including software updates, patches, and data backups, to ensure the eClinicalWorks application remains secure and up-to-date.
    • Evaluate new software releases and updates to determine their suitability for the organization and implement them as necessary.
  • Integration and Interoperability:
    • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate the eCW system with other healthcare applications, such as laboratory systems, radiology systems, and billing systems, to ensure seamless data exchange and interoperability.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    • Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights to healthcare providers and management, supporting informed decision-making.
    • Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and data protection standards.
  • Quality Assurance and Testing:
    • Conduct rigorous testing of the eCW system to identify and rectify any bugs, errors, or performance issues before the system's implementation or after updates.
    • Implement quality assurance processes to maintain high system reliability and user satisfaction.
  • Compliance and Security:
    • Stay informed about relevant healthcare industry regulations, such as HIPAA and Meaningful Use, and ensure the eClinicalWorks system adheres to these guidelines.
    • Implement security measures to safeguard patient health information and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive data.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Prior experience as an Application Analyst, preferably with a focus on eClinicalWorks EHR and practice management systems required
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare operations and clinical workflows required
  • Proficiency in configuring and customizing eClinicalWorks software required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities required
  • Understanding of healthcare compliance standards and regulations, such as HIPAA and Meaningful Use required
