This position is responsible for protecting lives and property endangered by fires and other
emergency situations. This position also must be able to assist in providing a high level of basic
emergency care to sick and/or injured patients of all ages within their certification level.
Major Duties:
• Administers first aid and Basic Life Support.
- Inspects assigned apparatus and equipment; cleans, repairs, and performs routine
maintenance on same.
- Performs housekeeping, building maintenance, and groundskeeping duties.
- Participates in and assists with training sessions.
- Prepares incident reports, gas and vehicle maintenance logs, and other reports.
- Performs all pre-hospital patient care to their level of training.
- Performs daily inspections of apparatus, onboard supplies, equipment, and restocks after
each call.
- Drives and controls an apparatus.
- Completes monthly educational requirements and training.
- Adheres to department-specific Infection Control guidelines.
- Exhibits an understanding of the Compliance Program and is willing to report compliance
issues.
- Understands and demonstrates compliance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
- Comply with all Patient Safety Standards.
- Maintains department-specific safety issues.
- Use all departmental electronic/technology reporting and data scheduling software.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of
Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association
and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Act within 6 months of hire.
- Georgia State of EMS Licensure is current and in good standing.
