We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented EMT who is comfortable splitting time between patient care and essential office operations. This is a hybrid role ideal for an experienced EMT who enjoys both hands-on Ambulance transport and behind-the-scenes work that keeps our service running smoothly. You will serve as a key member of our small, tight-knit team handling dispatching, billing, scheduling, and general administrative support. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to handling various administrative tasks related to medical transportation.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatching and Communications
- Manage incoming calls using multi-line phone systems, providing professional and courteous phone triage for emergency and non-emergency requests
- Utilize GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to assist with dispatching and navigation, ensuring timely response times
- Maintain accurate data entry and transcription of patient information, incident reports, and other documentation using typing and medical terminology expertise
- Coordinate ambulance and crew deployment using dispatch software
- Maintain real-time communication with field crews, hospitals, nursing homes, dialysis facilities, and other healthcare related agencies
Patient Care (as needed)
- Provide emergency medical care at the EMT level during peak times, special events, or staffing shortages
- Complete accurate PCRs (Patient Care Reports)
Administrative Support
- Maintain crew schedules, certifications, and compliance records
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment
- Answer phones, assist walk-in patients, and handle general office tasks
- Support quality assurance and data entry projects
Skills Required
- Current EMT-Basic (or higher) certification in New Jersey
- BLS CPR certification
- Minimum of 1 year of EMT field experience with a solid understanding of medical procedures and terminology
- Familiarity with GIS technology, GPS navigation systems, and multi-line phone systems for efficient dispatching
- Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette, active listening, and clear articulation of information
- Excellent analysis skills for assessing situations quickly and making informed decisions under pressure
- Proficiency in data entry, transcription, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage conflict effectively while demonstrating professionalism and empathy in all interactions
