EMT to Paramedic

Join our team! The Firefighter/EMT to Paramedic responds to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, fires and other public safety calls. This role combines fire suppression, emergency medical care, rescue operations, and community risk reduction to protect life, property, and the environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

· 18 years of age or older

· Nationally Registered or Virginia EMT, Advanced or Paramedic certification

· ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800

· An approved Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) Level 2 and/or Level 3

· Valid Virginia Driver’s License

· ACLS and PALS preferred for Paramedic applicants

· Virginia Department of Fire Programs Firefighter I, Firefighter II and Haz-Mat Operations (preferred but not required)

Special note: Special consideration is given to EMS providers without firefighter certifications. These candidates, if hired, would be offered this training during their employment with the City, but would not be required to obtain them.

Salary:

· Emergency Medical Technician: $20.00 per hour

· Advanced Emergency Medical Technician: $22 per hour

· Paramedic: $24 to $26 per hour (based on experience)
