Starting Rate: EMT Basic positions start at $23.31 per hour. Compensation may be higher based on certification level, relevant experience, internal equity, and market factors.
Position Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Transport is responsible for providing safe and efficient patient transportation and pre-hospital care in accordance with Bath Community Hospital protocols. This role ensures high-quality patient care during transport and maintains readiness of vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities and clinical duties are performed in accordance with the employee’s current certification level (EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced, or Paramedic), applicable state regulations, and Bath Community Hospital protocols.
Essential Functions
- Safely transport patients to and from medical facilities
- Provide patient care during transport within scope of certification
- Respond to EMS calls and provide pre-hospital care as required
- Operate EMS vehicles safely in accordance with EVOC standards
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, transport, and EMS activities
- Ensure vehicles, stretchers, and equipment are clean, stocked, and operational
- Perform routine vehicle and equipment checks to ensure readiness
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and receiving facilities
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and safety during transport
- Participate in quality improvement and training activities
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required
- Experience: EMS, patient transport, or healthcare experience preferred
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Current Virginia EMT-Basic, Advanced, or Paramedic certification required
- EVOC certification required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS and PALS preferred (required for Advanced/Paramedic roles based on scope)
