Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment for endodontic procedures.
- Assist the endodontist during root canal treatments by passing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring optimal visibility through medical imaging.
- Take X-ray images using digital radiography systems, ensuring accurate positioning and adherence to infection control protocols.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation, including patient records, medical history, and procedural notes in EMR (Electronic Medical Records).
- Monitor vital signs of patients before procedures to ensure their safety and comfort throughout treatment.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination within the dental clinic environment.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care, answer questions related to endodontic procedures, and coordinate follow-up appointments with the dental receptionist.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on endodontics or general dentistry; prior experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to endodontic procedures, and infection control practices.
- Ability to operate X-ray machines and 3D scanners for detailed medical imaging essential in endodontic diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
- Excellent chairside assisting skills including four-handed dentistry techniques that enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Knowledge of medical coding processes related to dental procedures for accurate recordkeeping.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in radiography or dental assisting from an accredited program is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics are advantageous. Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
